Singapore-based Decentralized Gaming Ventures, a venture builder in the web3 gaming space, has secured a substantial seven-figure investment round. Hashed, a prominent Korean venture fund, is the primary contributor to this funding.
The company aims to achieve its goals by acquiring independent game studios and providing dedicated mentorship, co-development opportunities, and access to valuable intellectual property (IP).
“We’re at the very beginning of a journey to transform game development across the region by giving promising young game makers access to capital, community, mentorship, blockchain technology protocol, co-development capabilities and major IP access,” stated Samson Oh, Chief Executive Officer of Decentralised Gaming Ventures.
Decentralized Gaming Ventures is dedicated to fostering a thriving game development ecosystem in Southeast Asia (SEA) while driving the advancement of Web3 game development throughout the region.
Currently, the venture builder operates a Singapore-based studio that serves as an incubator for 32 promising game developers organized into eight teams. This environment allows teams to prototype, iterate, and launch new game titles into the market. Over the past year, Venture Builder has supported releasing 15 games in the market.
The company has collaborated with Mighty Jaxx, a Singapore-based toys and collectibles firm with an impressive portfolio of titles. This partnership allows game developers to leverage well-known IPs, opening up new creative possibilities and enhancing the gaming experience.
To spearhead its IP partnership strategy, the company has appointed Derrick Sim, a seasoned gaming executive who previously served as Scopely’s General Manager for Southeast Asia. With extensive experience working with major entertainment IPs like Marvel, StarCraft II, and FIFA Online 2, Derrick brings a wealth of knowledge in nurturing the careers of emerging game developers.
“Our mission is to create an ecosystem where top development talents across Southeast Asia (SEA) are supported in their pursuit of building blockchain-based Web3 games, which we believe represent the future of the gaming industry,” expressed Samson Oh. “Through the support of Hashed, we’re delighted to further advance our vision and establish this region as a thriving hub for innovative and forward-thinking game developers.”
Decentralized Gaming Ventures was founded in 2021 as a trailblazing Web3 game venture builder that is reshaping game publishing. “Our investment in Decentralised Gaming Ventures taps into a promising venture that combines experienced leadership, government support, and a strong foundation for growth in the Web3 gaming landscape,” Samson stated.
