Singapore-based UnaBiz, a provider of customized IoT solutions, has successfully closed the first close of its $25 million pre-Series C funding round. Japan’s KDDI Open Innovation Fund 3 (KOIF III) and KYOCERA Communication Systems Co., Ltd (KCCS) participated the investment round.
UnaBiz, known for its massive IoT services and integration capabilities, aims to leverage this funding to further enhance its offerings and expand its market presence.
This latest investment comes on the heels of UnaBiz’s successful acquisition and integration of Sigfox 0G technology. In the past two years, the company has expanded the global 0G Network by adding 4 million new devices, making it the largest unlicensed Low-Power Wide-Area Network (LPWAN) in the world. With ongoing revenue growth and more efficient operations, the Sigfox 0G network is now running profitably.
The fresh funds will be strategically deployed to accelerate growth across several key areas. UnaBiz plans to strengthen its presence in the security industry, where it has already connected an additional 1 million devices in the past year. The company is also forming partnerships with major automobile and motorbike manufacturers to scale its telemetry and anti-jamming services globally.
UnaBiz is expanding its AI-powered Wi-Fi geolocation services in the logistics and supply chain sector, targeting applications such as pallet and parcel tracking. Additionally, the company aims to increase its market share in the gas and water utility segments by leveraging hybrid solutions that integrate multi-tech network technologies.
Kazuhiko Chuman, General Manager of KDDI Corporation’s Open Innovation Division, praised UnaBiz for its leadership in expanding the Sigfox 0G Network and contributing to the creation of a strong IoT business ecosystem. Yoshiaki Nagai, Deputy General Manager at KYOCERA Communication Systems, highlighted UnaBiz’s role as a gateway for Japanese companies to export their IoT solutions globally.
Henri Bong, CEO and Co-Founder of UnaBiz, spoke about emphasizing the successful transformation following the acquisition of Sigfox 0G technology. He highlighted that UnaBiz has become one of the largest aggregators of Massive IoT solutions globally, with 13.5 million devices connected, including 4 million added in the last two years alone. This growth underscores the company’s ability to unlock new opportunities within the LPWAN ecosystem.
Alexis Susset, CTO and EVP of UnaBiz Japan & South Korea credited Japan’s thriving ecosystem of partners and customers for playing a crucial role in UnaBiz’s expansion. The country’s support has been instrumental in scaling solutions across key sectors, including utilities, supply chain, logistics, and security.
