AsiaTechDaily – Asia's Leading Tech and Startup Media Platform
Mary and Jordan Blanchard are the co-founders of Bingeworthy. They have been married since June 2012 after they met in college at Brigham Young University. They live in Provo, Utah, and both work at Mountain View High School. Jordan is the athletic director, a coach, and teaches weight training. Mary works as a College, Scholarship, and Career Adviser. Bingeworthy is an idea that Mary has had for several years, and the Blanchards decided to make it a reality in 2018. The app was released in March 2020 and is all about TV shows — What you’ve watched, what you want to watch, what your favorite shows are, what your friends are watching, and much more. Mary and Jordan enjoy music, cooking, reading, and of course — binge-watching lots of shows!
In an exclusive interview with AsiaTechDaily, Mary and Jordan say:
Our only advice would be to be authentic! People respond very well to that genuineness.
If anything, maybe find more people to collaborate with. People say, “It’s all about who you know,” and that is true. Anyone you can get in your corner is helpful. I also wish that as I was thinking of this idea for our app Bingeworthy, I would have thought of it in more concrete terms. Even if you have an idea that you think is crazy or might never happen, write down your thoughts and the specifics of them. This will be helpful to you if and when your ideas ever start to take shape.

Mary and Jordan Blanchard: We are Mary and Jordan Blanchard. We met in college in Utah and are married since 2012. We have been working on our app, Bingeworthy, for about a year now. It was released at the beginning of March. That is pretty much our primary goal and what we are working on right now. Just getting that off the ground and up and running. In addition to our jobs working for a local high school, of course.
Mary and Jordan Blanchard: We are all about organic marketing! We have just tried to talk to everyone we know about our app, and get people to share with their friends about it. That is our model for right now until we can find the right paid-marketing approach.
Mary and Jordan Blanchard: For right now, everything is free, and we anticipate it staying that way. We want everyone to be able to use our app. Once we have more users, we do hope to sell banner ads and such, to make a little revenue, but for now, nothing yet.
Mary and Jordan Blanchard: Our only advice would be to be authentic! People respond very well to that genuineness.
Mary and Jordan Blanchard: It’s a full-time job, and you never feel like you are doing enough. We don’t have a checklist, yet, since we still consider ourselves amid our launch!
Mary and Jordan Blanchard: We believe our app can be enjoyed globally because it has information from TV shows in many languages, from a variety of countries. We hope other plans to expand globally will come to fruition once we get more users and start making any money.
Mary and Jordan Blanchard: Luckily this is not affecting us too much, yet. We are hoping since more people are at home and on their phones, and watching TV shows. It will help them to download our app. Bingeworthy is an excellent cure for boredom.
Mary and Jordan Blanchard: My father has told us to stop overthinking things and just get the product out there, and then go from there. That was pretty good advice for us because we were too scared to release our product for a while. We were waiting for perfection, but then, we would have been waiting forever. Advice that we would give is the same, just go for it. It’s okay if you don’t exactly know what you are doing. It’s okay if it isn’t perfect. Just START.
