TRACK La: Combating Road Accidents For Good

We may be unaware, but road accidents are considered to be a major contribution to the statistics on causes of death in Malaysia. According to World Health Organization, a shocking statistic is that Malaysia’s estimated road traffic death rate is actually a solid 23.6 per 100,000 population and has the highest road fatality risk (24 per 100,000 population) among the ASEAN countries – source: NATIONAL TRANSPORT POLICY page 55. Oftentimes, we tend to have the perception that accidents cannot be avoided since we believe it is inevitable. However, TRACK La strongly disagrees. 

If we think about it: Aren’t we tired of having our cars breaking down in the middle of the highway because we had not noticed our vehicle’s bad condition? Or is it carelessness and reckless driving behaviors that have caused so much inconvenience, and worse, tragedies?

TRACK La — A Malaysian born and bred initiative had every intention to end all of these tragedies and make a world without weakness and pain.

Resonating with the Ministry of Transport Malaysia, TRACK La sets off to achieve one of the eight key trends identified for the National Transport Policy 2019-2030 to address, and that is Trend 8: Proliferation of New Technology.

 In this policy, it discusses the Intelligent Transport Infrastructure. Quoting from the policy itself, it says that the availability of a variety of data – environmental, traffic flow, infrastructure health, user behaviors, and so on – must also be accompanied with a policy framework built to take advantage of the availability of data to allow better governance in areas such as infrastructure planning and maintenance, traffic planning, asset maintenance, incident management, and traffic diversion – source: NATIONAL TRANSPORT POLICY page 24. 

With the concept of telematics, TRACK La has developed a tracking device that only requires us to install in our vehicles through an OBDII port (onboard diagnostic port) with no wiring needed. This little ‘dynamo’ provides us with data showing vehicle locations, idle and inactive time, rash driving and accelerating, vehicle driving speed, vehicle’s health condition, and many other features displayed that could potentially save our lives and end the tragedies of road accidents once and for all.
