Nibertex, a deep tech startup headquartered in Singapore and operating in the Philippines, has concluded a highly successful funding round, which was oversubscribed. This funding initiative was spearheaded by Foxmont Capital Partners, a venture capital firm based in the Philippines, with additional support from influential Southeast Asian families.
With the backing of Foxmont Capital Partners, Nibertex aims to accelerate its efforts to develop innovative solutions for sustainable textiles and address critical environmental concerns in the fashion and textile industry.
The infusion of fresh funding is anticipated to speed up the rollout of Nibertex’s pioneering membrane technology, free from Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS). PFAS, commonly known as the “forever chemical,” is prevalent in textiles and is infamous for its persistent nature, as it does not readily degrade.
The technology addresses environmental concerns associated with PFAS contamination, as these chemicals have the potential to leach into groundwater and surface water, posing risks to ecosystems and human health.
Established in 2019, Nibertex is a venture in material science that uses the power of nanotechnology to develop advanced and environmentally sustainable materials. The company boosts innovation and improves the quality of life through its proprietary solutions, leading the market shift towards sustainable, waterproof and breathable products.
By offering an eco-friendly alternative that maintains high-performance standards, Nibertex aims to address environmental concerns without compromising product efficacy.
In addition to its focus on sustainable textiles, Nibertex’s electrospinning process facilitates the development and market introduction of materials for various applications, ranging from electric vehicle batteries to wound dressing and electromagnetic interference shields.
With an initial emphasis on technical textiles, Nibertex seeks to leverage its expertise to address pressing challenges across multiple industries, ensuring that its innovations positively impact society while meeting customer demands for environmentally responsible solutions.
Founded by Jae H. Park and Jae M. Park, Nibertex utilizes a proprietary electrospinning technique to produce 100% PFAS-free nanofiber films that offer breathability and water resistance. These films meet the stringent environmental standards set by customers and governments, making them suitable for a wide range of industries, including electronics, automotive, and construction.
Operating out of the First Cavite Industrial Estate (FCIE) in Dasmariñas, Cavite, Nibertex aligns with FCIE’s commitment to fostering technology-driven enterprises while prioritizing environmental sustainability, thus contributing to the region’s economic growth and job creation.
Jelmer Ikink, a Founding Partner at Foxmont Capital Partners, expressed enthusiasm for Nibertex’s mission, highlighting the company’s readiness to revolutionize entire industries by eliminating harmful chemicals from everyday products. With years of research and development behind them, Nibertex possesses the necessary products and expertise, cost advantages, and established clientele to drive this transformative change.
As a leading provider of PFAS-free solutions, Nibertex aims to set a new standard for environmental responsibility across various sectors, thereby contributing to a healthier and more sustainable future.
