Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality (VR/AR) technologies are transforming and revolutionizing the content delivery and consumption experience like never before. Korea based StudioCOIN had started business in 2011 as an AR/VR educational content developer. They also specialize in the planning and production of educational content and developing 2D/3D animation and video content.
StudioCOIN has always believed in the magical union of technology and education. They believe in enjoyable education and imagination, stimulating tools that aid in holistic brain development. Their quest for sustainable learning processes led to the launch of an interactive learning module that relied on the pillars of storytelling, Augmented Reality aids, and Experiential Learning. StudioCOIN has created a future-oriented multi-participant ForumVR education program, especially for children that give a fully immersive experience along with learning.
ForumVR is a collaborative learning VR game that has mastered the art of rekindling imaginations and igniting minds by creative storytelling. The smart use of technology creates an entirely new universe of experiences, colors, shapes, and fantasy play, and children learn sustainably while being immersed pleasurably in the process.
This multi-faceted futuristic scalable educational initiative offers kids a completely innovative learning pathway, one in which learning is fun and not just labor. By inducing highly collaborative elements into the course, their flagship program makes sure that learners get engaged and stay engaged. Some of the tools used are fairy tale inspired graphics, musical episodes, voice-overs, etc.
The VR Game experience has children form a team consisting of an experiencer and 5-10 participants. The experiencer gets the main character of the virtual story and selects participants who help him or her make choices that determine the story experience and the end. It is a 40 to 50 minutes’ experience and suitable for children in the 7 to 15 years’ age group. The team members connect through VR storytelling as they solve puzzles and create the story. At the end of the game experience, the children organize and express their thoughts on each topic.
The ultimate aim is always to initiate and sustain discussions as well as engagement. The cultivation of life skills like team building, cooperation, logical reasoning, analytical action, etc. happen more organically when technology-aided storytelling is used as a medium. StudioCOIN’s Forum VR Experience is available at the Seoul Animation Centre and five libraries. They plan to expand and benefit more young minds worldwide with their immersive learning experiences.
Scientific research shows that the phenomenon of adding virtual reality to the existing environment has a stimulating effect on spectators of all ages. Augmented reality hikes up engagement levels by almost 70% and increases the engagement span. And in this world of starved concentration levels and flickering minds, the use of AR makes retention of learning of sustainable educational impact possible, thereby solving two significant issues educators have been grappling with. Interactive 3-dimensional objects are enhanced with information supplements in textual and audio forms to create better knowledge levels. A wider arc of educational content is fed to young minds as the receptivity, aesthetics, and engagement potential of the content is enhanced.
At StudioCOIN, a team of educators and storytellers have collaborated to curate a range of interactive Virtual reality-based games that are multi-participant friendly and allow engagement through conversations and brainstorming.
Lewis Carol’s iconic Alice in Wonderland has been adapted into a wonderful thematic game titled “Alice’s choice in Wonderland? This immersive game naturally leads to associated debate topics like Equality vs. Fairness, interests vs. loyalty, and the quest for individuality.
Similarly, two of the greatest pieces of young fiction ever written, “Wizard of Oz” and “Frankenstein,” have been adopted into thematic games.” The saga of Dr. Victor and his creation; Frankenstein offers an intense learning base on experiential value judgments, cooperative acts, and ignites an appreciation for philosophy and science fields. It has been selected as 2019’s E-Learning outstanding corporate contest contents Grand Prize by the prestigious Ministry of Education. On the other hand, the Wizard of OZ is a great medium for learning worry management, argument mediation, character study, and cultural play.
At every step in these games, participants are encouraged to make their own decisions, engage in logical reasoning, and understand links between action-reaction-outcomes. Rather than a theoretical exploration of these life skills, the storytelling form lets young minds immerse themselves in fantasy situations that leave a lasting impact. Our games have been widely appreciated and have won many awards and accolades like the 2016 KOCCA Virtual Reality Content Support award and Seoul EXPO 2018 Games Content Award.
On July 14th, 2020, StudioCOIN participated with Forum VR for the 17th annual games Change Festival, a leading USA game event, held virtual this year because of COVID-19 restrictions. The StudioCOIN delegates showcased the ForumVR games under the theme “Korean Games Stage: Games Begin, Change Begins.” It was one of the five teams selected for the festival by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), which is the leading governmental organization for the cultural content industry of South Korea. With experience and knowledge of ForumVR, the StudioCOIN team is all set to take the next leap in virtual education program with the development of a “contactless” Augmented Education (virtual) platform.
