The acquisition adds more than 1,000 Azure engineers and AI specialists to NTT DATA’s global Microsoft business as enterprises increasingly seek to operationalize artificial intelligence at scale.

Global IT services provider NTT DATA has signed a definitive agreement to acquire WinWire, a Microsoft-focused cloud and artificial intelligence consultancy, as the company strengthens its enterprise AI capabilities and expands its Microsoft ecosystem amid growing demand for production-ready AI deployments.

The transaction, announced on May 18, will bring more than 1,000 Microsoft Azure engineers and AI specialists into NTT DATA’s Global Microsoft Business Unit upon closing, enhancing the company’s expertise in agentic AI, data engineering, cloud-native development, Microsoft Fabric, and Azure AI Foundry. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The acquisition comes as enterprises move beyond experimenting with generative AI and begin investing in large-scale deployments that require robust cloud infrastructure, data engineering capabilities, governance, and industry-specific AI solutions. Industry forecasts estimate the global AI market will expand from approximately US$390 billion today to nearly US$3.5 trillion over the next decade, underscoring the scale of enterprise AI investment.

NTT DATA said WinWire’s capabilities will strengthen its enterprise AI strategy by helping organizations operationalize AI across production environments rather than limiting deployments to pilot projects. The acquisition also expands the company’s Microsoft practice, which spans more than 50 countries and is supported by over 24,000 Microsoft certifications.

WinWire, headquartered in Santa Clara, California, with global delivery centers in India, specializes in agentic AI, AI on Microsoft Azure, data engineering, and cloud-native application development. The company is a six-time Microsoft Partner of the Year winner and finalist and is a member of the Microsoft Agentic Partner Alliance Program.

Its portfolio includes the Agentic AI @ Scale framework, designed to help enterprises embed autonomous AI systems into business workflows while accelerating the transition from proof-of-concept projects to enterprise-wide deployment.

The deal also reinforces NTT DATA’s long-standing strategic relationship with Microsoft, building on the company’s recognition as Microsoft’s 2025 Global System Integrator Growth Champion Partner of the Year. By combining WinWire’s Azure expertise with NTT DATA’s global consulting, infrastructure, applications, managed services, and industry capabilities, the companies aim to accelerate joint innovation and deliver AI solutions across sectors including healthcare, life sciences, software, digital platforms, and manufacturing.

While conversing with AsiaTechDaily, Aishwarya Singh, Executive Managing Director of the Global Microsoft Business Unit, Cloud & Security at NTT DATA, said the company’s immediate focus following the acquisition will be integrating WinWire’s technical capabilities to help enterprises deploy AI more effectively.

“Our immediate priority is to tap into WinWire’s strengths in agentic AI, data engineering, cloud-native development to grow NTT DATA’s Global Business Unit for Microsoft Cloud so we can accelerate our clients’ AI journeys with greater speed and confidence.

WinWire brings more than 1,000 Microsoft Azure engineers and AI specialists, along with proven frameworks for operationalizing AI at scale. Combined with NTT DATA’s global scale, industry expertise and full-stack capabilities across infrastructure, data, applications and managed services, this strengthens our ability to help enterprises move beyond pilots and deploy AI in production environments.”

The acquisition reflects a broader trend across the enterprise technology market, where organizations are increasingly seeking partners capable of integrating AI into existing business operations rather than deploying isolated generative AI applications. As enterprises scale AI initiatives, demand is growing for expertise in cloud modernization, data platforms, governance, and secure deployment alongside AI model development.

For NTT DATA, the addition of WinWire expands its ability to deliver these capabilities within the Microsoft ecosystem while strengthening its position in the rapidly growing enterprise AI services market.

The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Rothschild & Co served as the exclusive financial advisor to NTT DATA on the deal.
