Malaysia’s eco-friendly energy solutions provider, Gentari Sdn Bhd (Gentari), has joined forces with automaker BMW Malaysia (BMW) in a partnership for green mobility services and solutions alongside the deployment of renewable energy.
In an official statement released on Friday, Gentari revealed that the collaboration was established through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd, which signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BMW.
Malaysia’s Gentari Sdn Bhd and BMW Malaysia are actively collaborating on a range of initiatives related to electric vehicles (EVs) in the country. Their joint efforts include the installation of EV charging infrastructure at multiple facilities, including the BMW network of dealerships, and providing diverse EV fleet solutions in the Malaysian market.
Additionally, they aim to offer value-added services tailored for BMW EgenV owners, encompassing EV charging subscription plans, electric forecourts, portable charging, and mobile charging services. Moreover, both companies plan to deploy joint renewable energy infrastructure for sustainable mobility endeavors.
Through this fruitful partnership, Gentari and BMW are exploring various possibilities to advance the adoption of EVs in Malaysia, facilitating convenient and eco-friendly transportation options for consumers.
Speaking about the collaboration, Shah Yang Razalli, Deputy CEO of Gentari and CEO of Green Mobility Sdn Bhd, emphasized that Gentari’s expertise in renewable energy will play a pivotal role in establishing a comprehensive green electron value chain.
In response, Hans de Visser, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, envisioning its potential to shape Malaysia’s future mobility landscape.
As a leading premium automaker with the largest portfolio of EVs in the country, BMW is excited to work alongside Gentari in developing an array of mobility solutions, services, and infrastructure.
Since its launch in June 2022, Gentari along with its affiliated entities, has successfully installed more than 160 charging points within Malaysia and over 170 charging points in India, marking significant progress in promoting EV adoption and sustainability.
With an ambitious vision to become the most esteemed clean energy solutions partner in the Asia Pacific region by 2030, Gentari aims to capture a substantial 10 percent market share in charge points and Vehicle-as-a-Service (VaaS) offerings across key regional markets.
