DocsApp, a Bangalore-based platform that provides online doctor consultation, has acquired DocWise, another startup that operates in the same category, for an undisclosed amount.
In a statement, DocsApp said the acquisition will help it expand its doctor network and boost its engagement with users. DocWise claims to have more than 1,000 senior consultants from top hospitals.
DocWise, founded by Rahul Gupta and Samar Ahmed, is also based in Bangalore and is operated by Kyros Healthcare Solutions. Its platform focuses on patient-doctor engagement optimisation.

Gupta has joined DocsApp as Head of Consumer Business while Ahmed will head the doctor Ecosystem as part of the acquisition agreement.
DocWise and DocsApp share a common vision of making quality healthcare more accessible to the millions of people in India and around the world, Gupta said.
The decision merge will enable the two companies to strengthen its position in the digital healthcare segment, he added.
On the other hand, the buyer, DocsApp, founded in 2015 by Enbasekar D and Satish Kannan, enables people from India to consult specialist medical doctors within 30 minutes through chat or call via their mobile gadgets.
The DocsApp platform has over 5,000 doctors on board that provides consultation in twenty specialties. These include dermatology, paediatrics, psychiatry, sexology, and gynaecology, among others.
The startup has so far raised $10 million in funding over three rounds starting from its seed round in April 2016. Its existing investors include Rebright Partners, DeNa Networks, Bessemer Venture Partners, Techmatrix Corporation, and InnoVen Capital.
Before co-founding DocsApp, Kannan was research and development head at Philips in India, where he built high-end healthcare solutions for the country and developing Southeast Asian nations. He is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology.
Data from the Future Health Index 2019 showed that the country is leading the adoption of digital health technology. According to the index, more than 75 percent of healthcare professionals in India already use digital health records in their medical practice.
