Grab Company Ltd. (Grab Vietnam) has publicly announced its collaboration with ZaloPay E-Wallet to launch ZaloPay on the Grab app.

This means that payments made via ZaloPay is now available for almost all Grab app services, including transport, food and grocery, and parcel delivery.

“Being able to connect with various payment methods through Moca and ZaloPay, Grab is offering users multi payment options, along with added benefits,” said Nguyen Thi My Hanh, the Deputy Country Head of Grab Vietnam.

In a joint statement, the two companies said that by providing an additional payment method on the Grab app, users will now have the option to either pay in cash or via cashless solutions like Moca E-wallet or through linked cards.

Grab and ZaloPay have their own ecosystems.

Grab is a leading superapp that connects customers to a wide range of everyday services, including transport, delivery, and financial services.

ZaloPay, for its part, is known as a ‘national e-wallet’ or a payment platform with a variety of customized features designed to meet the demands of both consumers and businesses.

In their statement, the two companies said that their partnership will enable them to elevate user experience by optimizing their cashless payment features to better serve consumers with their everyday essential services.

Nguyen Thi My Hanh added that the partnership marks a new milestone for both Grab and ZaloPay as this will allow the two leading platforms in Vietnam to work closely to leverage the strengths of both ecosystems, share financial and technological capabilities and insights into user experience in order to drive sustainable growth.

According to the statement, the partnership is expected to create more favorable conditions for Grab and ZaloPay to gain access to large consumer bases and share experiences to improve their services as they also promote cashless payment in Vietnam.

Le Lan Chi, the Chief Executive Officer of ZaloPay, said the partnership between ZaloPay and Grab Vietnam is a landmark in their 2023 journey to engender a cashless world.

By leveraging the human and technological resources of both parties, they hope to realize their ideas and launch new practical products to better serve consumers with diverse needs in the future, she added.

According to her, ZaloPay is an independent application and an e-wallet that is integrated into the Zalo chat platform.

Its distinct and user-friendly approach enables ZaloPay to reach a diverse customer base that is not just limited to those who are familiar with the app.

With ZaloPay, Grab users and its other consumers are able to enjoy seamless cashless payment, she said.

Founded in 2012, Grab is now Southeast Asia’s leading superapp. It operates across deliveries, mobility, and digital financial services sectors in over 480 cities in eight countries in the Southeast Asia region that include Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

ZaloPay is an online payment platform that was developed by ZION Joint Stock Company. It is licensed to operate as a payment intermediary by the State Bank of Vietnam.

The firm has partnered with Visa, Mastercard, and 39 domestic banks in order to assist users on interbank transfers, payment, and a variety of other exceptional features.
