From Mobile Security to AI Threat Detection: How India’s Cybersecurity Startup Xprobyte Is Expanding Its Ambitions

With Xproguard focused on consumer protection, Xproshield targeting enterprise security and XproAI entering AI-content verification, the company is seeking to address a broader range of digital threats.

According to Gartner, information security spending in India is forecast to reach US$3.435 billion in 2026, an 11.7% increase from 2025. The changing threat landscape is creating opportunities for companies to move beyond conventional cybersecurity products. Indian cybersecurity startup Xprobyte is pursuing this broader market through three specialised offerings: Xproguard for consumer security, Xproshield for enterprise protection and XproAI for identifying AI-generated and manipulated content. Its strategy reflects an attempt to address different dimensions of digital risk, from protecting personal devices to assessing the authenticity of online information.

Xprobyte’s consumer-facing offering, Xproguard, focuses on mobile security and privacy. Its portfolio includes firewall protection, AppLock, Anti-Theft, VPN, Password Manager and Photo Vault. These products address risks associated with personal devices, unauthorised access and data exposure. The company has subsequently expanded its positioning through Xproshield, which targets organisational security requirements. Its stated services include enterprise password management, penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, security audits and cybersecurity consulting. The offering reflects a shift towards business customers, whose requirements extend beyond individual device protection to securing networks, applications and organisational information.

The distinction between these markets is central to Xprobyte’s strategy. Consumers generally seek accessible tools to protect personal information and devices, whereas enterprises require security assessments, managed controls and specialised services to address operational risks.

Explaining the rationale behind this approach, Gokul Landge, Chief Business Analyst at Xproguard, told AsiaTechDaily that the company believes separate offerings are necessary because each customer segment faces different security challenges.

“Xprobyte follows a focused, segment-specific approach because consumers, enterprises, and developers face different cybersecurity challenges. A single solution cannot effectively address every layer of the digital ecosystem.

“Xproguard focuses on consumer security, protecting individuals’ mobile devices, passwords, privacy, and personal data. Xproshield addresses enterprise security through solutions such as enterprise password management, penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, security audits, and cybersecurity consulting. XproAI focuses on digital trust by detecting AI-generated content, deepfakes, and potential phishing or malware URLs to help identify digital threats and deception.

“By building these specialized offerings under one ecosystem, Xprobyte addresses three critical needs: protecting individuals, securing organizations, and building trust in the AI-driven digital world. Each offering serves a distinct purpose while contributing to our broader vision of creating a safer and more secure digital ecosystem.”

XproAI and the Emerging Digital Trust Market

XproAI represents the company’s move into a relatively new area of cybersecurity: identifying manipulated and AI-generated digital content. Generative AI has made it easier to produce synthetic images, videos and audio that can resemble authentic material. These capabilities are increasingly relevant to phishing, impersonation, financial fraud and misinformation. As a result, verifying the authenticity of digital content is becoming an additional security concern for businesses and individuals.

Xprobyte announced XproAI’s launch in 2026, initially positioning the platform around image and video verification. Its website now presents analysis options for images, videos, audio, text and URLs. The company describes the platform as a way to help individuals and organisations assess potentially manipulated or AI-generated material.

However, content detection remains a technically challenging field. Detection systems can produce false positives and false negatives, particularly as generative models improve. A detection result should therefore be treated as an assessment rather than definitive proof of authenticity. Independent performance testing, transparent methodologies and clear communication of limitations will be important for establishing user confidence. For Xprobyte, the opportunity is to extend cybersecurity beyond protecting devices and accounts to helping users evaluate the information they encounter online.

The company’s expansion comes as India’s cybersecurity product ecosystem develops. The Data Security Council of India’s Indian Cybersecurity Product Landscape Report 3.0, published in December 2025, estimated that the country had more than 400 cybersecurity product companies generating a combined US$4.46 billion in revenue in 2025. The sector recorded a compound annual growth rate of 34% between 2020 and 2025.

Meanwhile, the government’s response to AI-enabled threats highlights the growing importance of security capabilities. In July 2026, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology reported that CERT-In had conducted 10 cybersecurity exercises focused on frontier AI-driven threats, involving 1,470 participants from 345 government and private organisations. The government also highlighted the use of AI-driven systems for identifying malicious domains, detecting phishing activity and assessing vulnerabilities in public-facing digital infrastructure.

These developments point to a market in which cybersecurity requirements are becoming more specialised. They also create opportunities for domestic companies developing products and services for different customer segments.

The Challenge of Building an Integrated Security Business

While Xprobyte’s three-part strategy broadens its addressable market, operating across consumer applications, enterprise services and AI-based content verification presents distinct commercial and technical challenges.

Consumer mobile security depends on product usability, distribution and sustained user adoption. Enterprise cybersecurity involves longer sales cycles, customer trust, technical expertise and the ability to demonstrate measurable security outcomes. AI content verification, meanwhile, requires continuous model improvement and credible performance validation.

The company’s participation in GISEC Global 2026 in Dubai, where Xproguard showcased its cybersecurity offerings, also indicates an interest in international industry engagement. However, establishing a sustainable international business will require more than visibility. Customer adoption, partnerships and product differentiation will determine its ability to compete.

Another important question is how effectively the three offerings can operate as a connected ecosystem. Shared threat intelligence, research capabilities and technical infrastructure could create advantages, but the company has yet to publicly establish the extent of such integration.

Expanding the Definition of Cybersecurity

Xprobyte’s expansion reflects a broader change in how digital security is being approached. Protecting devices and organisational infrastructure remains essential, but the growing use of AI-generated content has introduced another layer of risk involving authenticity and trust.

The opportunity for emerging cybersecurity companies lies in addressing these distinct challenges without losing sight of reliability, usability and commercial viability. For Xprobyte, the next stage will depend on demonstrating the effectiveness of its products, building enterprise relationships and establishing XproAI’s credibility in a competitive detection market.

Its three-brand strategy signals an ambition to participate in a wider cybersecurity ecosystem. Whether that ambition translates into a sustainable business will depend on how effectively the company turns specialised offerings into trusted products with demonstrable value.
