FreshToHome‘s mission to make 100% preservative and antibiotic-residue free fish, seafood, and meat affordable and accessible to millions of meat lovers received a boost from the outcome of its recently concluded Series D.
The funding round closed with $104M in fresh investments for the world’s largest and fully integrated online consumer brand for preservative and antibiotic-residue free fresh fish and meat.
The round was lead by Amazon Smbhav Venture Fund and was also participated by existing investors like Iron Pillar; Investcorp or the Investment Corporation of Dubai, which is the principal investment arm of the Government of Dubai; and Ascent Capital, among others.
New investors like E20 Investment Ltd, Mount Judi Ventures and Dallah Albaraka also joined the funding round, with JP Morgan acting as the placement agent for the fundraise.
Shan Kadavil, CEO & Co-founder, FreshToHome, said that they are very excited to have Amazon Smbhav Venture Fund lead Series D.
Kadavil said that FreshToHome pioneered the revolution of making 100% preservative and antibiotic-residue free fresh fish, seafood, meat and meat products affordable and accessible to all, which is their biggest USP.
“We are now a ‘Proficorn’ with operational profitability across the company. As we strive to offer more value to our farmers and fishers, customers, employees and investors, our focus is on profitability and sustainable value creation,” he added.
About two years ago, FreshToHome also raised $121M in Series C that was led by the Investment Corporation of Dubai, Investcorp, IronPillar, Ascent Capital and the U.S. Government’s development finance institution – DFC.
This time, the company earned $104M from Series D, the company said in a statement.
Since its launch in 2015, FreshToHome currently operates in 160+ cities in India and the UAE as it offers more than 2,000 certified fresh and chemical-free products.
Amazon Smbhav Venture Fund, through its official spokesperson said that with the $250M Amazon Smbhav Venture Fund that they have allocated, they hope to empower the next generation of innovative, technology enabled companies led by visionary founders.
The company added that they were also impressed with the FreshToHome management team led by Shan Kadavil for the quality of work that they have exerted in creating a robust technology enabled supply chain and scalable backward integrated capabilities to serve both customers as well as the farmers and fishers.
With the partnership, Amazon looks forward to the next phase of FreshToHome’s growth.
