The term ‘electric scooter’ or ‘e-scooter’ has become a buzz word in the world of urban mobility. With e-scooter, we realize this medium to commute is far cheaper than hiring a cab/taxi. The other important factor for its growing popularity is that it is environment-friendly. According to the WHO, air pollution is the number one reason for premature deaths in Asian countries and vehicle emissions including scooters and motorbikes are the major contributors. So, switching to electric scooters or motorcycles is gaining grounds in these countries.
Singapore based EuroSports Technologies founded in 2012 aims to deliver a better mobility experience to the users besides alleviating the problem of air pollution by developing next-generation electric motorcycles and electric scooters. The company has recently received US$1.5 million in seed capital from EuroSports Global (ESG), its parent company. ESG is a leading distributor of ultra-luxury automobiles and also an exclusive distributor of Lamborghini in the region.
The company plans to use these funds to speed up developing EST-X model, which is a fully electric intelligent motorcycle. This motorcycle is slated for an initial launch in Southeast Asia which holds a huge target market. The regional sales of 15 million units per year are expected and after this, the company plans to make an international debut.
E-scooters/bikes have seen notable growth in the last couple of months as people are getting more aware of the health crisis that air pollution is causing globally. According to reports, it is estimated that seven million people per year can die due to global air pollution.
The advantages of using electric motorcycles are obvious as compared to the gasoline-powered ones that are highly polluting. The e-scooters/ motorcycles are cleaner, cause fewer traffic congestions and are easier to maintain over the lifetime as compared to gasoline motorcycles.
EuroSports believes that it can solve the problem of pollution by building high-quality yet affordable and practical e-motorcycles. The creative team of EuroSports is led by Joel Chang, COO that is ambitious and focuses on making things happen for the betterment of the masses.
Whether you are a leisure rider or want to use it for going around places like shops, gyms etc., or want to use it for daily commuting; e-scooters/motorcycles are quite convenient and EuroSports is making that happen.
