Airwallex, a global fintech platform, has announced the appointment of Kai Wu as the company’s Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) and Asia-Pacific General Manager (APAC GM).
Kai, who has held a number of senior positions at Airwallex for close to five years, including as Chief Financial Officer and Greater China CEO, will lead the new functions from Singapore, marking the company’s first C-suite executive in the country.
His appointment come as Airwallex aims to rapidly accelerate its growth globally and in the APAC in 2023.
As its new CRO, Kai will be responsible for the implementation of the company’s global revenue strategy. He will also be in-charge of ensuring a closer alignment with all revenue-related functions globally, from marketing, sales, customer success to revenue operations.
“Airwallex is truly on the forefront of driving innovation and change in the digital economy. I am incredibly excited to grow my role within the company and look forward to accelerating our growth and continuing to build our momentum globally and across APAC,” Kai said on his appointment.
With the continued growth and expansion of Airwallex, Kai will play a pivotal role in increasing the company’s revenue growth in a scalable and sustainable manner.
In addition to his responsibility of driving the global revenue strategy, Kai’s role as the new APAC GM also reflects expanded responsibilities for oversight of Airwallex’s business operations across the Asia-Pacific region.
He is now tasked to spearhead the implementation of the company’s growth plans in the region and drive greater efficiency across the markets where Airwallex operates.
Jack Zhang, the co-founder and CEO of Airwallex, said that their investment in building a senior leadership team demonstrates their continued confidence and commitment to grow their business in APAC and globally.
Zhang said that having Kai take on his new roles comes at a critical time, when their company is taking major steps to enable the world’s most powerful global financial infrastructure and operating system for modern businesses.
As more and more businesses in the region work to strengthen their digital and tech transformation strategy, they wanted to also give the assurance that Airwallex is well positioned to support them on their journey.
Since its founding in Melbourne, Australia in 2015, Airwallex has quickly grown to having its presence felt across 19 global locations across Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North America.
Airwallex continues to scale to new heights. Just recently, it also announced the $100 million increase in its Series E2 fundraising round. The company’s ts customer base has also more than doubled.
