Vietnam-based edtech startup eJOY announced raising an undisclosed amount in its seed funding round led by ThinkZone Ventures.
BK Fund, an investment fund founded by many alumni entrepreneurs of the Hanoi university of science and technology (HUST), also participated in the latest round.
“eJoy really impresses us by the enthusiasm of the founding team in building a high-quality product, which has been proven by the number of users and business traction,” a ThinkZone Ventures representative shared about the investment.
The representative also believes that eJOY will be able to achieve this in the future.
ThinkZone Ventures will also invest more than $150,000 in support packages for the development process through a network of experienced experts and partners.
With the participation of BKFund, eJOY will be able to reach out to a large student community through the influence of HUST and the network of universities in Vietnam, according to the announcement.
Diep Bui, CEO of eJOY, said this investment will be used to continue to improve the product for intermediate audiences and expand to beginners learning English, as well as testing other languages with the same method of learning via movies and Youtube.
eJOY is an edtech startup that develops cross-platform applications to serve the active learning needs of learners. They create a tech product that lets learners decide what they want to learn via YouTube, Netflix, Coursera, and other platforms.
Bui added that the startup company believes that the most sustainable and natural way to learn English is to accumulate gradually in daily activities such as reading books, watching movies.
eJOY also gives their learners more flexibility in choosing their favorite English content from movies and entertainment, so they can maintain a lifelong passion for discovery, learning, and growth.
Currently, eJOY is the only tool that can connect video websites for online learning in bilinguals such as TedTalk, Netflix, Amazon, Coursera. It has more than 1 million users worldwide, with 30% of it being foreigners.
eJOY received a 4.9-star rating with over 300,000 weekly active users.
