Tribe, a Singapore-based ecosystem builder, and Digital Industry Singapore (DISG)—a joint office of the Economic Development Board, Enterprise Singapore, and the Info-communications Media Development Authority (IMDA)—have teamed up with global chipmaker NVIDIA to launch Southeast Asia’s first AI startup accelerator. The accelerator will support innovation and emerging AI startups in the region.

Named the Ignition AI Accelerator, this program will leverage the expertise of NVIDIA, Tribe, and DISG to create a platform for AI-driven startups. The collaboration aims to enhance Singapore’s position as a leading hub for AI technology, offering startups access to resources and mentorship from industry leaders.

Dubbed the Ignition AI Accelerator, the initiative will focus on enhancing AI value discovery, creating a vibrant ecosystem for AI startups, and pushing the boundaries of AI’s capabilities. With an initial combined investment of USD 3 million, the program will launch with a cohort of 15 high-potential startups in a four-month program. This program is designed to equip participants with the foundational capabilities to ensure their AI projects are launch-ready.

As part of the Ignition AI Accelerator, NVIDIA and Tribe will collaborate with Enterprise Singapore to offer qualified AI startups funding support through the Startup SG Tech scheme. The collaboration will leverage Tribe and NVIDIA’s expertise to expediently assess selected high-quality AI startups expediently, allowing them to access funding for technology development and business growth.

Key benefits of the Ignition AI Accelerator include access to training and NVIDIA’s global technical expertise. Co-developed by NVIDIA and Tribe, a series of training workshops will be available to enhance core AI-building capabilities. This will be covering the full AI stack from GPU to application-layer development frameworks. Expert advisory will help startups maximize the power of accelerated computing, giving their AI solutions a competitive edge.

Additionally, the program aims to accelerate development and go-to-market strategies for the next AI breakthroughs. Startups will receive cloud credits to facilitate development across multiple cloud platforms and on-premise infrastructure. In-depth coaching from lead consultants, subject matter experts, and experienced founders will provide valuable insights into project valuation, economic viability, and long-term sustainability.

The program also bridges the gap between startups and potential investors, including corporations, VCs, and private investors, fostering opportunities for early-stage funding and global market access.

Now accepting applications, the Ignition AI Accelerator aims to create a vibrant AI ecosystem in the region by supporting AI startups. Startups in the program can expect opportunities to connect with potential investors, receive assistance with the IMDA accreditation process, and gain eligibility for government projects and large enterprise contracts.

The AI market in Singapore is expected to grow, with projections indicating it will surpass US$1 billion by the end of 2024. This momentum is expected to continue with a CAGR of 28.1%, reaching a market volume of US$4.6 billion by 2030. The Ignition AI Accelerator aims to capitalize on these global opportunities within the AI landscape.
