Mito Health, a Singapore-based healthtech startup, announced raising S$1.7 million (about $1.3 million) in an oversubscribed pre-Seed funding round.
The funding round was led by Forge Ventures, and several notable angel investors, including founders and executives from PatSnap, Carousell, Glints, OhMyHome, Rainforest, ShopBack, and SingLife, also participated.
The healthtech startup is using AI to develop personalised health plans for customers based on their diagnostic results and wearable data, with a primary goal of optimising health and extending the number of years free from diseases and disability.
It targets the health-conscious demographic who are searching for methods to maintain their health beyond annual check-ups and supplements.
Mito Health’s co-founders include Tee-Ming Chew and Kenneth Lou, who previously co-founded and exited Seedly after seven years, Joel Kek, who led engineering teams from zero to one, including TraceTogether at GovTech, and Dr Ryan Ware, a former surgeon and resident.
Dr Ryan, who serves as the Chief Medical Officer, believes that personalised, preventative strategies are crucial to extending lifespan while maintaining physical and cognitive quality of life.
Mito Health’s initial focus is on serving the executive demographic in Singapore, with plans to expand into other developed markets regionally. The startup guides users through rigorous optimisation cycles using digital coaching in the areas of diet, exercise, supplements, and sleep.
CTO Joel Kek stated that Mito Health’s advanced AI models combined with deep medical expertise would provide an always-accessible medical team that understands clients well and helps them improve health and performance.
Mito Health plans to use the pre-seed funding to expand its product development and hiring. The startup has an actively growing waitlist in Singapore and has begun serving early clients for its product offering. Interested clients can join the waitlist for private beta access on the Mito Health website.
Tiang Lim Foo, General Partner at Forge Ventures, who led the pre-seed funding round, stated that with an ageing population and an increasing emphasis on healthy years, preventative healthcare is becoming more critical.
