BrioHR, a Malaysia-based HR technology startup with a growing presence in Singapore, has raised USD 6.5 million (RM30 million) in Series A funding to transform human resource management across Southeast Asia. The funding, equivalent to SGD 8.7 million, is crucial in the company’s growth journey.

The round was led by Openspace Ventures, a prominent Singaporean tech investor, with participation from Taiwan’s Hive Ventures and other regional backers.

BrioHR said the new investment signals rising confidence in its vision to meet the digital HR needs of both SMEs and larger companies across the region, including Singapore. The platform is already used by over 1,000 businesses in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, and other ASEAN countries, providing unified tools for payroll, compliance, and employee engagement.

With this funding, the company aims to expand its operations and deepen its presence in Singapore, a key market for its growth. A major part of its strategy includes enhancing artificial intelligence (AI) features to better support businesses navigating a rapidly changing workforce landscape. The move aligns with Singapore’s push for digital transformation and smart workforce development under its Economy 2030 Vision.

CEO and Co-founder Benjamin Croc said the funding validates BrioHR’s vision of making HR management simple and accessible. He emphasized the importance of Singapore in the company’s expansion, citing its advanced infrastructure, government support for innovation, and vibrant startup ecosystem as key advantages.

Croc also highlighted that despite a challenging funding climate since 2022, BrioHR’s ability to secure this round signals strong investor belief in its model and the broader potential of Malaysia’s tech sector. He noted that Malaysia has the talent and capacity to develop regional and global tech leaders, with BrioHR’s user-friendly design helping businesses fully embrace digital HR solutions.

The firm’s next steps include growing its brand visibility and technology offerings, particularly in AI-driven tools, to support more businesses across Southeast Asia. Croc called the raise more than just capital—it is a step toward reshaping the future of work in ASEAN, with Singapore as a central hub for innovation and regional expansion.

Hian Goh, co-founder and partner at Openspace Ventures, said Singapore’s role as a regional tech hub makes it the ideal base for scaling platforms like BrioHR. He noted that the startup’s solution addresses major challenges faced by businesses operating under diverse HR regulations across ASEAN. He added that Openspace is pleased to support BrioHR’s next growth phase, especially in Singapore, where digital HR adoption is accelerating.
