India’s Union Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, has announced the selection of eight innovative startups for support under the National Quantum Mission (NQM) and the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NMICPS). These startups, representing advancements in quantum science, were chosen based on the newly formulated guidelines by the Department of Science and Technology.
The selected startups will focus on key areas of quantum technology, including quantum computing, communication, sensing, and advanced materials. By supporting these quantum innovations, India aims to expand globally and further its mission to become a technological powerhouse by 2047.
These startups were selected after a rigorous evaluation process that prioritized technological feasibility, market potential, and alignment with India’s national objectives under the National Quantum Mission (NQM).
Minister Jitendra Singh addressed the gathering and stated that quantum technologies aim to support various sectors, including communication, cybersecurity, healthcare, and energy.
Quantum communication, for example, offers ultra-secure methods of information sharing through quantum cryptography, ensuring data protection against cyber threats. He further noted that quantum innovations could transform financial systems, secure online transactions, and optimize energy grids, contributing to a sustainable, climate-resilient future. The Minister also highlighted the role of quantum technology in improving satellite communication, navigation systems, and climate change solutions.
