Thailand-based healthcare marketplace HD has secured a Series A-1 strategic extension round, bringing its total Series A funding to $7.8 million. The latest investment comes from U.S. pharmaceutical giant Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD). It marks MSD’s first investment in Asia-Pacific health tech through its MSD IDEA Studio initiative, backed by the MSD Global Health Innovation Fund and its Asia Pacific regional team.
With backing from MSD, HD plans to broaden its presence in Southeast Asia, enhancing the affordability and accessibility of healthcare services. Other investors in the round include Partech Partners, FEBE Ventures, M Venture Partners, and SBI Ven Capital.
By 2025, HD aims to support over 5,000 healthcare providers and serve 600,000 patients through its HDmall platform and Jib AI technology. The company’s AI-powered system automates initial patient interactions, allowing healthcare professionals to focus on delivering quality care. Over 60% of HD’s chat-based commerce is managed by autonomous AI agents, providing round-the-clock assistance.
With this funding, HD plans to enhance Jib AI’s capabilities over the next year, expanding its functions to include appointment scheduling, order processing, refund handling, and electronic health record management. The AI will also support medical information retrieval and virtual consultations, streamlining operations for healthcare providers on HDmall.
HD’s rapid growth has drawn strong interest from hospitals and clinics looking to integrate Jib AI into their daily operations. The company has already onboarded 2,500 healthcare providers and is offering 30,000 medical services to over 400,000 patients across Thailand and Indonesia. By aggregating services and providing installment payment options, HD aims to make healthcare more affordable and accessible.
Saumick Pal, Head of Digital, Data Analytics, and Innovation at MSD Asia Pacific, stated that MSD’s support will help HD drive innovation and expand healthcare access across the region.
HD operates as a healthcare and surgery marketplace in Southeast Asia, supporting over 2,500 providers, including major hospitals. The platform connects patients with hospitals, clinics, and surgeons while offering financing solutions to improve access to affordable treatments.
Its key offerings include HDmall, an outpatient healthcare marketplace active in Thailand and Indonesia, with plans to expand to Vietnam, and Jib AI, an AI-powered system leveraging anonymized healthcare data to enhance patient interactions.
Since launching Jib AI in 2024, HD has automated 60% of customer interactions and continues to expand its capabilities. With support from MGHIF, the company aims to strengthen its AI-driven services by integrating features like electronic health record verification and virtual care. As HD scales, it focuses on empowering healthcare providers and making quality medical services accessible across Southeast Asia.
