Indonesia-based health tech startup Nexmedis, known for its AI-driven Health Information Systems (HIS), has raised an undisclosed investment co-led by East Ventures and Forge Ventures. The funding will support Nexmedis in optimizing healthcare operations, advancing clinical services, and expanding its presence in hospitals throughout Indonesia.
With this funding, Nexmedis aims to introduce AI-driven solutions tailored to Indonesia’s healthcare challenges. The company plans to optimize hospital workflows and patient management, ultimately improving healthcare accessibility and outcomes nationwide.
Established in 2023 by Yehuda Dani Utomo, Matilda Narulita, and Dr. Almer Deta Tarandha, Nexmedis leverages AI to improve healthcare efficiency and patient outcomes. Its AI-driven Health Information System (HIS) optimizes hospital workflows, supporting medical professionals in clinical decisions, insurance processing, and patient management.
One of Nexmedis’ standout features is its Clinical Decision Support (CDS) tool, which offers diagnostic recommendations based on ICD-10 codes. This ensures precise treatment planning and facilitates seamless insurance claims processing for Indonesia’s Social Security Agency for Health (BPJS) and private insurers. To further streamline administrative tasks, the company is also working on an AI-driven transcription tool that transforms doctor-patient conversations into organized digital records, reducing paperwork and enhancing efficiency.
Since its inception, Nexmedis has established partnerships with more than 400 healthcare facilities and received acknowledgment from Indonesia’s Ministry of Health through its Regulatory Sandbox program. The company has also joined forces with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to advance AI-driven healthcare digitalization and is collaborating with Gadjah Mada University on research projects.
Nexmedis aims to address key challenges in Indonesia’s healthcare sector, including inefficiencies caused by manual processes and fragmented data. The country’s vast geography also makes it difficult to deliver advanced medical tools and training to remote areas, affecting the quality of care. By leveraging AI, Nexmedis seeks to bridge these gaps, ensuring better healthcare accessibility and improved patient outcomes.
Investors see Nexmedis as a key player in transforming Indonesia’s healthcare sector. “At the heart of great companies are strong founders, and we are eager to collaborate with Yehuda, Matilda, and Almer as they drive meaningful change,” said Tiang Lim Foo, Managing Partner at Forge Ventures. East Ventures’ partner, Melisa Irene, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the urgent need for AI-driven innovations to improve efficiency and patient care in the country.
