AsiaTechDaily – Asia's Leading Tech and Startup Media Platform
Saudi-Egyptian startup Darwinz AI has secured $325,000 in seed funding in its first institutional round. The investment was led by Flat6Labs KSA and Glint Ventures, marking a key milestone for the previously bootstrapped company.
Based in Saudi Arabia, Darwinz AI is the developer of Dima, a productivity platform powered by artificial intelligence. The funding will support the company’s efforts to enhance its product and expand across the region and beyond.
Founded in Egypt in 2021 by Mohy Aboualam and Emad Elazhary, Darwinz AI—officially registered as TheDar.AI—has relocated its headquarters to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It currently operates from The Garage at KACST, a leading innovation hub in the Kingdom. The company has expanded its operations to six MENA countries and serves a range of industries, including the public sector, telecoms, real estate and finance.
Its flagship product, Dima, is an Arabic-first AI copilot built for PR and marketing professionals. The platform helps users monitor brand sentiment, detect early signs of crises, and assess media coverage in real-time. Since launching in late 2024, Dima has attracted over 300 users and boasts a client retention rate above 90%, according to company data.
The newly secured funding will be directed towards enhancing Dima’s AI capabilities and expanding the team in Riyadh. Darwinz AI plans to utilize the fresh capital to expand its presence across the GCC, while also laying the groundwork for a broader international push, set to commence in 2026.
Rather than launching new products, the startup will concentrate on refining Dima based on user feedback. “Our aim is to become the best-in-class solution globally for the specific workflows we support,” Aboualam said, highlighting that the company’s focus remains on perfecting its existing offering.
The investment from Flat6Labs KSA and Glint Ventures brings not just capital but strategic guidance. Darwinz AI expects to benefit from both firms’ experience in scaling startups across the region, which could prove valuable as the company prepares for the next phase of growth.
Following this seed investment, Darwinz AI will focus on executing its current business strategy before seeking additional funding. The next round is expected in the second half of 2026, aligned with plans to expand beyond the MENA region.
“I would love in the next 18 months to have clients in countries that we never visited find, subscribe and benefit from Dima online,” said co-founder Mohy Aboualam.
The startup’s move to Saudi Arabia highlights the Kingdom’s growing importance as a hub for deep tech innovation. With backing from Flat6Labs KSA and Glint Ventures, Darwinz AI is part of a broader trend of startups tapping into local infrastructure and capital to build scalable AI products for global markets.
