It also has 20 million social media followers coupled with 8 million monthly users and more than 600 million social impressions a month. Earlier in 2017, Mediaload received US$200,000 seed funding from Khaliee Ng who is the managing partner of the Southeast Asian Federation of 500 Startups.
Cambodian Internet startup Groupin recently revealed that they received Series A funding of USD 5 million from Mekong-focused private equity firm Belt Road Capital Management (BRCM). Most importantly, the company claimed that the funding is the largest in the history of Cambodian tech startups. On this account, the company has set a new fundraising record in Cambodia’s startup history. The founders stated that the funding will be used to invest in customer support, mobile technology, logistics chain, and product vertical expansion to lay the groundwork for their transformation into a regional internet company.
While talking about the future of digital media, Vichet In said, “We believe our digital media business model needs to evolve into a content aggregator app. With its operational system and local understanding, Mediaload has a big potential to be a localised super content app.”
Alex Odom, Chief Investment Officer of BRCM made a statement that “We see huge potential in Little Fashion’s marketplace. It mainly operates in the low-priced online fashion industry, taking advantage of increasing internet penetration, progressively active online customers and a growing middle-income population in Cambodia. Bringing Mediaload together with the e-commerce platform allows for notable synergies and access to millions of potential customers in both Cambodia and Myanmar.”
