Animoca Brands’ gaming subsidiary The Sandbox has announced its acquisition of Sviper GmbH, a German game development studio that is known for its creative excellence in working with major brand partners and its senior-level talent.
Sviper’s acquisition is set to add development, engineering, and creative talent to The Sandbox’s global team. Their collaboration is also expected to empower creator generation to build more engaging and fun experiences focusing on social features, new multiplayer gameplay options, and new Game Maker possibilities for creators.
The Sviper leadership team that is led by its CEO Ole Schaper and CPO Mark Buchholz has over 25 years of experience in working with well known brands in mobile, PC, and multiplayer gaming.
“We are thrilled to join The Sandbox and contribute to the creation of a cutting-edge virtual world that combines gaming, creativity, and community,” Schaper said.
Sviper, that was founded in 2016, has been collaborating with The Sandbox for over a year now and is fully integrated into the platform’s ecosystem.
Its team has 40 members that are currently based in the gaming tech hub in Hamburg. They have already started the hiring process for The Sandbox in Germany.

From adding social features to designing rules that creators can use to prototype game logic to implement powerful multiplayer features, their Hamburg team is supercharging the metaverse’s creative potential, he adds.
