The end of the Adobe Flash era by 2020? Why content creation tool “XELF” is attracting attention

Adobe announced that “it will stop updating and distributing the Flash Player at the end of 2020.” Google and Microsoft quickly followed suit and also announced the termination of support for Flash. Up until now, Flash was criticized for its security vulnerabilities that might expose users to security risks. Due to this decision, the users will no longer be able to use Flash on websites for both mobile and PC.

However, Flash remains a popular choice for many advertisements, games, and e-Learning content. There’s no alternative for Flash that allows object-moving animations or 2-way interactions. HTML5 technology was once nominated as an alternative, but adaption remains a problem in content design due to its high cost in development and lack of experts.

XELF (https://xelf.io/) was named as a content-creating tool platform that allows object-moving animations and 2-way interactions, just like Flash. XELF is an HTML5-based cloud service that allows anyone to design and produce content without coding. More than 20,000 contents, from presentations, Card News, various graphic sources to education materials, are currently registered and shared among users.

XELF is designed to view contents on browsers without any additional installations. Whereas existing content creation tools focused on expressing design, using XELF, users can create dynamic pages with an Action function, including different triggers, such as clicks. So it can create presentations with multimedia, e-learning with problem-solving features, and even casual games. For creators’ convenience, these triggers and actions can be visualized in the timeline feature.

As of Nov 7th, 2019, XELF concluded its one-year Beta service and launched officially. It will retain its free policy where users can use all content-creating tools but introduced additional benefits for paid users. In addition, it will add the enterprise license option where clients can share their content on websites or LMS (Learning Management Systems).

“XELF will continue to expand features that content creators need and an environment where they could input scripts,” explained XELF’s CEO, Tae-Hwan Ahn of Globis Infotech. He further added that “the HTML5-based content creation tool will eventually replace the next-generation Flash.”
