LinqAlpha Raises US$22 Million Series A to Expand AI Investment Research Platform Across Asia-Pacific

The New York-based company plans to deepen its presence in APAC, broaden its AI platform beyond equities, and capitalize on growing demand for domain-specific AI among institutional investors.

New York-based LinqAlpha has raised US$22 million in Series A funding to accelerate its expansion across Asia-Pacific and further develop its AI-native platform for institutional investors. The funding round was led by AVP, Atinum Investment, and GFT Ventures, with participation from strategic financial institutions and venture investors across Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, and India.

The company said the new capital will support the expansion of its global team, strengthen integrations across market and alternative datasets, and accelerate deployment of its multi-agent platform across equities, macro, credit, and multi-asset investment strategies. As part of its regional growth strategy, LinqAlpha has established subsidiaries in Singapore and Hong Kong and is expanding local sales, engineering, product, and data teams while conducting enterprise proof-of-concepts with major banks and asset managers across Asia-Pacific.

Founded by Jacob Choi, Subeen Pang, Jin Kim, and Hojun Choi, LinqAlpha brings together former Goldman Sachs investment professionals and MIT computer science researchers. The company says its platform is currently used by more than 70 financial institutions across North America, Europe, and Asia, including sell-side research and trading teams as well as buy-side firms such as Causeway Capital Management and Schonfeld Strategic Advisors. According to the company, its buy-side clients collectively manage more than US$5 trillion in assets.

Building AI Around Institutional Investment Workflows

LinqAlpha focuses on helping institutional investors build AI agents that learn from an organization’s proprietary investment research, historical theses, and decision-making frameworks. The company’s platform is designed to help research teams analyze large volumes of financial data, earnings reports, market events, macroeconomic developments, and alternative datasets to identify potential investment opportunities before they become widely reflected in market pricing.

“The first wave of AI in finance made analysts faster. The next wave changes what they can know,” said Hojun Choi, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of LinqAlpha, in the company’s announcement.

“The edge no longer comes from retrieving information; it comes from systems that surface market-moving signals before they are priced in.”

That approach reflects a broader shift within financial services, where firms are increasingly evaluating AI systems capable of augmenting investment research rather than simply improving operational efficiency.

Asia-Pacific Emerges as a Key Growth Market

The company’s latest funding comes as Asia-Pacific continues to see growing investment in enterprise AI adoption across financial services. While many early generative AI solutions focused primarily on U.S. financial markets, institutional investors in Asia are increasingly seeking platforms that better understand regional market dynamics, local datasets, and cross-border investment activity.

Speaking with AsiaTechDaily, Choi said Hong Kong and Singapore have become LinqAlpha’s strongest regional markets, driven by demand from both sell-side and buy-side institutions. The company said it is currently working with a broad range of institutions across the region, including investment banks, asset managers, family offices, and retail trading platforms.

Alongside its geographic expansion, LinqAlpha is also broadening the capabilities of its platform beyond traditional equity research. Choi said the company plans to expand both the asset classes and datasets supported by its AI agents.

“We’re becoming multi-asset and multi-data coverage by moving beyond equities to cover credit, macro, and commodities while encompassing not only fundamental and market data but broader datasets like social media, prediction markets, and other alternative data. Within Asia, we currently cover a full range of clients from investment banks and asset managers to family offices and retail trading platforms.”

The expansion reflects a growing recognition that investment decisions increasingly rely on combining structured financial information with alternative sources capable of providing earlier signals about changing market conditions.

From AI Pilots to Enterprise Deployment

While enthusiasm around generative AI continues to grow, financial institutions have traditionally adopted new technologies cautiously because of regulatory requirements, data governance, explainability, and security concerns. Choi believes the industry is now moving toward specialized AI platforms capable of meeting those enterprise expectations rather than relying solely on general-purpose language models.

“Most AI tools in finance help professionals retrieve information faster or automate repetitive work,” said Manish Agarwal, General Partner at AVP, in the funding announcement. “LinqAlpha is addressing a larger opportunity by building systems that help institutional investors discover differentiated insights in public markets that reward speed, context, and proprietary judgment.”

Beyond the lead investors, the oversubscribed Series A round included participation from strategic investors such as SBI Investment and Z Venture Capital in Japan; Samsung Securities, Mirae Asset Venture Investment, Mirae Asset Capital, NH Investment & Securities, Shinhan Venture Investment, and Hana Ventures in South Korea; East Ventures, Betatron Venture Group, and SV Investment across Southeast Asia and Hong Kong; and NuVentures in India.

LinqAlpha’s latest funding reflects a broader transition taking place across institutional finance. As financial institutions increasingly move beyond experimenting with generative AI, attention is shifting toward specialized platforms that combine proprietary knowledge, enterprise-grade governance, and domain expertise to support investment decision-making.

For Asia-Pacific, where banks, asset managers, and capital market firms are accelerating digital transformation, the opportunity extends beyond adopting AI itself. The next phase is likely to be defined by how effectively institutions integrate AI into their core research workflows while meeting the accuracy, compliance, and precision standards required in regulated financial markets. LinqAlpha’s expansion suggests that demand for vertical AI solutions tailored to those requirements is continuing to grow across the region.
