In a groundbreaking move, the State Grid Ningbo Yinzhou District Power Supply Company in China has successfully integrated aerial surveying and oblique photography modeling technology into the live working construction of distribution networks. This marks the first time such advanced technology has been introduced to live working construction in Zhejiang Province, China, setting a new standard for efficiency and precision in the industry.

The technology employs drones to capture detailed distribution line information and equipment parameters, which are then used to create highly accurate 3D models. These models enable workers to prepare leads and other essential accessories in advance, significantly reducing on-site preparation time and eliminating the possibility of measurement errors. The result is a notable improvement in both the accuracy and overall efficiency of construction processes.

The impact of this innovation is particularly evident during the high-temperature summer months. Traditionally, replacing a switch on a power line column could take up to five hours, often pushing workers into the hottest part of the day. However, with the new technology, the same task now takes just 2.5 hours, increasing efficiency by 50%. This reduction in working hours not only enhances productivity but also contributes to the safety and well-being of the workers.

In the coming future, State Grid Ningbo Yinzhou District Power Supply Company plans to comprehensively promote this technology application in distribution networks. They plan to establish accurate models for 10 overhead power lines in the region and continue to explore the deep application of model data in live working construction.

This initiative is expected to provide robust technical support for the efficient operation of the power system, bolstering the reliability and safety of the power supply across the district. The State Grid Ningbo Yinzhou District Power Supply Company is a key player in the provision and management of power supply within the Ningbo region.
