Korean company Ggeek Beer Company began as a small craft brewery nestled in the heart of Seoul, South Korea, and has grown to a household name domestically and beyond. Founded by a group of beer enthusiasts passionate about creating unique and flavorful brews, Ggeek has gained a reputation as one of the best craft breweries in the country.

The story of Ggeek Beer Company began when a group of friends, all avid homebrewers, decided to turn their passion into a business. They spent months researching and perfecting their recipes, experimenting with different ingredients and brewing techniques until they had a range of beers they were truly proud of.

Their first big break came when they entered their flagship beer, a crisp and refreshing pilsner called “Seoulite,” into a national beer competition. To their surprise, they won first place, beating out some of the country’s biggest and most established breweries.

Ggeek Beer is dedicated to producing high-quality, unique beers using various brewing techniques and ingredients. The company’s core team is led by CEO Joongseob Hong and includes a Sales Director, a QC Manager, and three Brewers.

Small Taproom to International Expansion Plans

With their newfound success, the Ggeek team decided to open a small taproom in the trendy neighbourhood of Hongdae in 2018, where they could showcase their beers and connect with other beer lovers.

As their success grew, so did their ambitions. They decided to expand their business by creating a line of specialty beers infused with local ingredients, such as Korean chili peppers and ginseng. They also began exporting their beer to other countries, spreading their love of craft beer to the world.

Ggeek’s business model involves selling craft beers through their pub and supplying them to wholesale and retail sellers. The company is focused on expanding its brewery in 2023, entering the Southeast Asia market, and opening a second pub in 2024. By 2025, Ggeek aims to enter the global market.

In recent years, Ggeek has seen impressive growth, with a 46% increase in revenue and a 150% increase in their customer base compared to the previous year. The company has won numerous awards, including the Asia Beer Championship in 2020 and 2021, as well as the Korea International Beer Awards (KIBA).

Ggeek’s goal is to expand the craft beer market by introducing new and diverse beers to enthusiasts and the general public. They have over 60 exclusive recipes and produce three year-round beers, in addition to, their monthly Ggeek Beer project features a special beer brewed every month to delight consumers. They also remain active in the local beer community, hosting events and collaborating with other breweries to create special limited-edition beers.

Today, Ggeek Beer Company has a loyal following of beer enthusiasts who appreciate their commitment to quality and innovation. Their beers can be found in bars and restaurants across the country, and they continue to grow and expand their operations, all while staying true to their roots as a small, independent craft brewery.
